Short-drama affiliate programs compared (2026): rates, cookies and payouts

How short-drama affiliate programs actually pay in 2026 — commission rates, how long a viewer stays yours, invite codes, tiers and payout schedules — and what to check before you sign up.

Short-drama apps — vertical series with one- to three-minute episodes — have become one of the biggest categories in mobile entertainment. ReelShort alone is reported to have made around $700 million in 2025. Where there is that much spending, there are affiliate programs: creators recommend an app, viewers install it, and the creator earns a share of what those viewers spend.

But "up to 30%" on one program and "up to 50%" on another can mean very different money. This guide breaks down what actually determines how much you earn from a short-drama affiliate program, and how the main programs compare on each point.

Short answer: the headline percentage matters less than three other things — how long a viewer stays attributed to you, whether your rate can drop, and how many middlemen sit between you and the app.

How short-drama affiliate programs make you money

Short-drama apps earn in three ways, and a good program pays you a share of all three:

  • Coin purchases. The first episodes are free; after that, viewers unlock episodes with coins they buy in packs.
  • Subscriptions (VIP). Weekly or monthly passes that unlock everything. Every renewal is new revenue.
  • Ads. Viewers who don't pay can watch rewarded ads to unlock episodes or earn bonuses.

Your share is almost always calculated on net revenue — what the app actually receives after Apple or Google take their store fee, sales tax is paid and refunds are processed. That's normal and fair; just make sure you know which number your percentage applies to.

The five things that decide what you earn

1. The rate — and who actually gets the top rate

Most programs advertise a ceiling ("up to 30%"). The ceiling usually applies only to top performers; everyone else starts at a base rate. Ask what the starting rate is and exactly what it takes to move up.

2. How long a viewer stays yours

This is the most important and the least advertised term. Two common models:

  • Cookie window. You earn on a viewer only if they sign up within a set period after clicking your link — commonly 30 days — and the program's terms decide for how long their later spending still counts.
  • Lifetime attribution. Once a viewer joins through your link or code, they're linked to you permanently and you earn on their spending for as long as they keep watching.

Short-drama viewers often keep paying for months. Over a long tail, lifetime attribution can be worth several times a higher headline rate with a short window. We explain the math in Lifetime revenue share vs a 30-day cookie.

3. Whether your tier can drop

Some programs recalculate your tier every month based on how many new referrals you brought that month. One slow month and you're back at the base rate. Others treat levels as permanent: once you reach one, you keep it.

4. Who sits between you and the app

Several big short-drama programs are distributed through a network of resellers: you join with an invite code from an existing "distributor", and that distributor earns a bonus on your results. It isn't necessarily a bad deal, but it means your relationship, support and sometimes your payout run through a third party.

5. When money actually arrives

Look at the hold period (time before earnings are confirmed — needed because app-store refunds take time), the payout schedule (weekly, monthly, "Net-30") and the minimum payout.

How the main programs compare

The table below summarises publicly listed terms as of October 2026. Most short-drama apps don't publish an official affiliate page, so figures for them come from third-party affiliate directories and resellers — treat them as indicative and check the current offer before you join.

What a fair short-drama program looks like

Use this checklist whichever program you pick:

  1. The rate applies to all your viewers, not just new ones, when you level up.
  2. Attribution is long — ideally for the life of the viewer — and written in the terms.
  3. Your level can't silently drop.
  4. You can join directly and talk to a real person at the company.
  5. Official clips and trailers are provided, so you don't have to rip footage and risk takedowns.
  6. The dashboard shows every viewer and every cent, with a clear hold period.

Where Tokime fits

Tokime is an anime short-drama app — cinematic series in one- to three-minute episodes, with a match-3 game, collectible character cards and characters who text viewers back. The Tokime Partners program was built around the checklist above:

  • 30% to start, growing to 50% as your paying viewers grow (35% at 25, 40% at 100, 45% at 400, 50% at 1,500). Each level applies to all your viewers and never goes down.
  • Every viewer is yours for life — coins, VIP renewals and ad revenue.
  • No invite codes, no resellers. You apply directly and get a personal manager.
  • Ready-made Marketing Kit with posters, trailers and the best moments of each series.
  • Story Studio: pitch a story; if it's filmed, you earn +15% on top of your share on that series.

If you already promote another short-drama app, you can promote Tokime too — compare the terms side by side on the Why Tokime section.
